Bird worked closely with the design team to achieve a functional and cost-effective design that met the client’s immediate needs with the ability to expand the facility in the future. Involved throughout the design and pre-construction phases, Bird provided constructability input and feedback. Through utilization of BIM, Bird eliminated clashes between mechanical, electrical, structural, and architectural components prior to serious site issues arising, thus avoiding many change orders in the process.
Built within the requirements for LEED® Gold certification and with alternative energy systems, the project captured solar energy to heat the domestic hot water supply and also return some power back into the electricity grid as part of the district energy heat management system.
Following the successful delivery of the main building, an additional $3 million interior fit-up package was negotiated directly with Bird.
