We put safety first

Safety value

Bird's paramount Corporate Value is 'We Put Safety First'. This commitment is reflected in the meticulous execution of work on our sites, adhering to stringent operational safety standards and our comprehensive health and safety systems. We are proud to cultivate a culture that prioritizes the well-being of all individuals involved in its projects. These foundational elements collectively create an environment that ensures everyone returns home healthy and without injury each day.

We believe in continuous learning and acknowledge that errors will happen; what matters is having the capacity to fail safely. This belief is ingrained in our robust safety culture, initiated by senior leadership who exemplify Bird's Health, Safety, and Environment (HS&E) principles.

Our focus permeates through to project risk management, starting with pre-project safety planning and robust safety execution practices. This includes comprehensive onboarding processes, hazard identification and management, and consistent HS&E program monitoring and assessment. Our approach is supported by seasoned project leaders, well-trained front-line supervisors, and the active participation of our workforce and trade partners.

A collective pledge to ensure that every employee returns from work in the same state of health and safety as they arrived is a mutual responsibility. We collaborate with employees and trade partners to fulfill this promise, thereby reducing risk and establishing the optimal conditions for the safe, timely, and budget-conscious completion of construction projects, to the satisfaction of each client. We recognize this collective dedication as essential to its overarching success and are honoured to be a pioneering member of the Canadian Construction Safety Council.
